Welcome to Arts Forum San Francisco!
Arts Forum SF is an inclusive forum for sharing ideas and resources, grappling with difficult issues, and imagining and implementing solutions that will result in sustainable and forward-thinking arts programming, partnerships and policies.
The first Artsforum-SF meeting was staged at War Memorial Performing Arts Center in San Francisco on September 29, 2003, and featured most of the candidates for the 2003 SF mayoral campaign. The event was produced by Intersection for the Arts, Theatre Bay Area, the Arts Democratic Club, 826 Valencia and Independent Arts & Media.
It is critical that we understand, value, and utilize the vital role that artists and arts organizations of all types play in public policy making and involving the general populous in community-based social, political, and cultural dialogue and action. Our goals include:
1. To unite, organize, and mobilize the San Francisco arts community.
2. To create a space for the diverse array of San Francisco artists and arts organizations to come together to grapple with difficult issues and ideas in order to build a stronger and more sustainable future.
3. To create long-term partnerships between the arts community and public policy leaders that will result in innovative arts programming and policy.
We convene regular forums and workgroups around important issues including Cultural Activism, Arts Funding, Facilities, Cross-City Programs and Partnerships, Cultural Economy, Marketing the Arts, Artist Support Structures and Networks in order to move toward action, problem solving, and partnership.
These conversations are responsive to the immediate concerns in our community and are designed to create a space for critical discussion, healthy debate, and community-based inquiry into the issues and events that directly affect us.
Arts Forum SF is an inclusive and collaborative community forum for sharing ideas and resources, grappling with issues, and imagining and implementing solutions that will result in sustainable and forward-thinking arts programming, partnerships and policies.
Arts Forum is coordinated by a host of organizations and arts activists including Theatre Bay Area and Intersection for the Arts. Listserv and website provided courtesy of Independent Arts & Media (ArtsandMedia.net).
