Subject: January 31 Talk: San Bruno Mountain
To: shapingsf-talks@lists.artsandmedia.net

If you've ever wondered about that apparently "empty" hulking hill when you're driving north from the airport towards San Francisco, you have to come to this Wednesday's Talk. We have a veritable All-Star Team of San Bruno Mountain activists and experts who will regale us with stories of its geologic and historic (pre-European) past, the amazing meeting of north and south vegetation, endemic and endangered species that make the mountain their home, the twisting and surprising political and social history of the mountain, and tales of its current predicament and the resilient efforts being made to preserve and extend this unique biospheric island in our midst!

January 31: San Bruno Mountain

This remarkable and still endangered ecological treasure
is the natural southern boundary of San Francisco. The curious
cultural and ecological histories that intersect on this
mountain will be shared, a quarter century of grassroots
activism will be revisited, and current work to save the
mountain will be presented. (Doug Allshouse, David Schooley, Jake Sigg, Ken McIntire, and Joe Cannon).
cosponsored by
