From: P H Yang Photography <phyang at gmail.com>
Hi
I'm looking for exhibition space for a fund raiser photo exhibition that
showcase the work of The Zigen Fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit and also a
registered NGO in China, http://zigen.org/
with 20 years of hands-on experience on grassroots development in China. The
ideal venue would be an art gallery at reasonable cost or commission on sales
but other exhibition spaces are acceptable.
I'm an exhibited and published photographer in Asia and North America. My work
has been exhibited in Hong Kong, at San Jose Museum of Art and juried-in by the
Director of Artist's Gallery, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. My images
have been licensed by Lonely Planet, the largest independently-owned travel
guidebook publisher in the world, for their publications.
Lately, I have spent more time on documentary photography, exploring the inner
cities and the plight of the homeless, migrants, peace movement, rural China,
to name a few of the many worthy causes, hoping to raise people's awareness. I
have volunteered my documentary photography for non-profits on this board
including the Alliance for Smiles, Public Allies, AIDS/Lifecycle, etc.
Here is a link to the Virtual Tour of my recent Solo Exhibition in DC Area in
Feb 2008 on documentary photography of an emotional and thought-provoking trip
to spotlight projects of The Zigen Fund for grassroots development in China.
The Rural Heart
China: The Roads Less Traveled
"The Other China - Beyond The Economic Miracle
Discover exquisite, sometimes haunting, images of people and landscape in
China's
rural heartland...
Abject poverty, discrimination, social exclusion, digital divide...
Welcome to the world of migrant workers, who come from the rural heart of China
- the poorest provinces that are left behind by China's economic miracle - who
end up doing the most "dirty, heavy, hard and exhausting" jobs in the
cities..."
