From edit at artsandmedia.net Mon May 21 10:38:07 2007 From: edit at artsandmedia.net (Josh Wilson) Date: Mon May 21 10:40:13 2007 Subject: [Indyarts] Indy Arts house party May 30! Message-ID: Greetings! Independent Arts & Media would like to invite you to a house party on Wednesday, May 30, from 7-9 p.m, at the home of Jesse and Jane Townley in Berkeley. The party benefits our work in support of free expression, the right to know, and the "dialogue of democracy." Jesse is one of our board members, and a longtime nonprofit worker as the former E.D. of the disability-services program Easy Does It. He's also a DJ and producer with KALX-FM, and the former secretary of the legendary East Bay all-ages music and culture venue 924 Gilman Street. We're honored that he and Jane have opened their home to us, and want to make good on that with a fine turnout! If you'd like to join us next Wednesday for complementary food and beverages (beer sponsor: New Belgium Brewery), and meet the Indy Arts staff and volunteers, please drop me a line. We're also glad to announce that two of our fiscally sponsored projects -- the San Francisco Women's Film Festival and Hyphen Magazine: Asian America Unabridged -- will be on the scene to talk about their important work on behalf of independent culture and community. Independent Arts & Media is an eight-year-old (!) free speech and civil society nonprofit that expands civic dialogue by increasing access to independent voices. We produce and promote independent media and arts projects, and provide support and services to indie media makers, artists and culture workers. Our programs include Expo for the Artist & Musician, and Newsdesk.org. Please feel free to tell your friends and family about our work, and bring them along to the party on May 30! The more the merrier. You can drop me a line directly with any questions at this email address. Thanks for your support of free expression, the right to know and open, civic dialogue! Josh Wilson Co-Founder, Independent Arts & Media http://artsandmedia.net/ p.s. If the timing on this East Bay party doesn't work for you, we're also having a soiree at the Pink House on Duboce Triangle in San Francisco on June 6. Drop me a line for details about that shindig as well. ---------------- Manage Your Subscription: The IndyArts list (formerly the IAM list) is your primary information outlet for Independent Arts & Media and its programs and partnerships. Tonight's program features audience-driven dialogue with panelists Will Grant of BLAST (Build Leadership through Adult Student Training), Lowell High School teacher and union shop steward Ken Tray, Lisa Schiff of Parents for Public Schools and home schooling advocate Karen Allen.
