SAVE-THE-DATE!!
This year?s 2008 Expo for Independent Arts has some exciting changes
in store. Firstly, the name has changed (from the former Expo for the
Artist and Musician, to promote the inclusiveness for all art mediums
that The Expo upholds. Secondly, The Expo will be held at our first
ever outdoor venue: Dolores Park on Saturday, September 27th from
11am-6pm! Please contact Katie Hennessy, Community Arts Program
Director at the phone number or e-mail below for information about
tabling, hosting a workshop and/or performing.

Always on a Sunday and every full moon you can find great live music at Red
Hill. Search the shelves or sit down with a cup of wine, a neighborly
cheeseplate of delectables, let the kids browse the board books, and enjoy
your Sunday afternoon with some of the best music by the best musicians San
Francisco has to offer. All shows are from 3 to 5 pm.

Take advantage of free Film and Media Literacy Workshops offered
exclusively to youth groups (ages 13-24). The purpose of these workshops
is to further media education and film appreciation through the non-profit
Ninth Street Independent Film Center organizations.

About the Instructor: Born in 1972 on the island of Madeira, hundreds of
miles south of Portugal in the North Atlantic Ocean, Elio Camacho immigrated
to California with his family in 1975. Long an admirer of the master
impressionists such as Bongart, Sorrolla, and Fechin, in his mid-twenties
Camacho decided to follow his childhood passion of fine art. Intensive
studies with Ovanes Berberian led to the development of distinct
representational style with abstract brush work.

"Beyond Words" examines those Peanuts strips in which Charles Schulz
dipensed with dialogue and used only "pictures" to tell the story.

This exhibit explores the "visual shorthand" of comic art
and how speed lines and other graphics are used to convey
emotions and ideas. Exhibit runs till August 11, 2008.

In Peanuts there are many instances of people(and a few things!) that never
appear in the strip. Adults, The Red Baron, The Little Red Haired Girl to
name a few. Exhibit runs through July 13, 2008(museum closed on Tuesdays
