EXHIBITS
........................................................................
* Small Press Spotlight - featuring Joey Sayers - 01/26/08 -05/04/08
http://www.artsandmedia.net/calendar/events/index.php?com=detail&eID=3801
Joey Sayers is a cartoonist living in Oakland, California. She
has been drawing comics since she was very young. Her first strip,
P.O.W. (Play on Words), drawn at age 7 was considered hilarious by
herself and her co-author/father.
* Juried Annual 2008 at Pro Arts - 01/30/08 -03/08/08
http://www.artsandmedia.net/calendar/events/index.php?com=detail&eID=4929
Once a year, Pro Arts hosts Juried Annual, a juried exhibition
of work by its member artist constituency. The exhibition showcases
work by artists of all ages who live and work in the Bay Area.
Hundreds of artists submit work digitally in a variety of media
(including painting, photography, sculpture, textile, glass,
installation, digital, installation and performance art) for
consideration, and over 1,000 pieces are reviewed for
exhibition inclusion by an esteemed member of the Bay
Area art world.
* New Exhibit-'The Language of Lines' - 02/02/2008 - 08/10/2008
http://www.artsandmedia.net/calendar/events/index.php?com=detail&eID=4302
This exhibit explores the "visual shorthand" of comic art
and how speed lines and other graphics are used to convey
emotions and ideas. Exhibit runs till August 11, 2008.
Museum closed on Tuesdays in winter.
* The Sky is Falling: A group exhibition on the theme of disaster-
02/29/2008 - 03/29/2008
http://www.artsandmedia.net/calendar/events/index.php?com=detail&eID=5858
How do we coexist with the ever-present possibility of disaster?
How do we react to a social climate that reminds us to be
perpetually suspicious and very much afraid? The artists in
The Sky is Falling, a multi-media art exhibition, suggest we
are responding by arming ourselves (both literally and
figuratively), using beauty to express outrage, and at
times fiddling while Rome burns.
* All Mixed Up - 03/14/2008
http://www.artsandmedia.net/calendar/events/index.php?com=detail&eID=5791
Come celebrate with some of the Bay Area's finest
mixed media artists.
* New Exhibit-'Beyond Words' - 01/16/08 - 05/11/08
http://www.artsandmedia.net/calendar/events/index.php?com=detail&eID=3479
"Beyond Words" examines those Peanuts strips in which Charles
Schulz dipensed with dialogue and used only "pictures" to tell
the story.
