Here are some updates on the Eighth Annual Expo for the Artist & Musician, coming up Sept. 10-15 in San Francisco.

     the remarkable creative and cultural innovations percolating

      Come find out about the ins and out of starting your project 
      and securing the cash that you need to get your film produced. 
      With: Henry Rosenthal (producer, "The Devil & Daniel Johnston"), 
      George Rush (lawyer; advisor, Film Arts Foundation), more.

    * Urban Cinema Showcase *
      @ The Variety Preview Room, 8-9:30 p.m.

      An evening of urban cinema rising from indy media centers, 
      local film festivals and young imagemakers. Our program will 
      feature shorts produced by the BAVC Next Generation Youth Video 
      Works and Conscious Youth Media Crew focusing on identity, race, 
      music and gritty love.

      PLUS: See highlights from the SF Women's Film Festival and the 
      CounterCorp Anti-Corporate Film Festival, as well as independent
      imagemakers including Bill Basquin, Veronica Majano, Sabrina 
      Alonso and more. Shorts include "Grizzly Road," Two/Four," "A 
      Short Tale of Xuan," "Why I Ride: From Low to Slow," "Change 
      the Nation" and many more. A rare opportunity to see handmade, 
      grassroots video made in San Francisco!

    * Cinemania: San Francisco in 35mm *
      Dolby Laboratories Screening Room, 100 Potrero Ave., SF

      Join us for this unique screening of 35mm Films by San Francisco
      filmmakers, and their cinematic exploration into the roots and 
      tools of cinema.
 
      This program of seldom-seen 35mm shorts includes Kerry Laitala's
      flashlight-exposed, handmade "Muse of Cinema," Konrad Steiners's 
      multiple-imaged "Scenes Relating to a Trip to Japan," Ben 
      Russell's slo-mo punk/trance implosion "BLACK AND WHITE TRYPPS 
      #3," Stephen Parr's frenetic single-framed "Body" and more.
