Here's a quick update on the Eighth Annual Expo for the Artist &
Musician, happening Sept. 15 at SomArts in SF.
The Expo is the Bay Area's only grassroots connection fair for
independent arts and culture -- a unique "Free Culture Fair" for all
arts disciplines, practitioners, aspirants and fans.
If you work with an arts organization or project of any sort, large or
small, there is space for you at this event. Educators, venues,
galleries and service providers are particularly encouraged to attend,
as are collectives, co-ops, performance troupes, basement publishers,
garage studio cats and attic printmakers. Read on for details!

** LATE FEE ALERT **
The Expo is currently half-full with 56 exhibitors. Please note that on
August 1 late fees kick-in. The fee for small nonprofits and community
groups goes up from $25 to $35. For medium nonprofits, the increase is
from $60 to $80. For large nonprofits and businesses, the increase is
from $90 to $115.
In our experience, many of you are going to register at the last
minute. That's fine, however, we encourage you to save money, get in on
the early event promotions, and make life easier on our all-volunteer
staff by registering BEFORE August 1:

** EXHIBITOR SALON @ CELLSPACE, Sept. 13 **
The folks working the tables at the Expo always talk about what a
pleasure it is to meet each other. But it's hard to find time to chat
during our buzzy, bustling day-long event. So, in collaboration with
the fabulous Rachel H. of Pandora's Trunk
(http://www.pandorastrunk.com/), we are excited to present our
first-ever Exhibitor Reception & Salon on Sept. 12 at Cellspace. This
will feature art, music, wine and food, plus several workshops and
discussion groups addressing the changing nature of, and need for, the
nonprofit arts organization. Stay tuned for updates and see you there!
** ARTS FUNDING PANEL, Sept. 12 **
In collaboration with Shaping San Francisco, the Expo presents a panel
on arts funding at CounterPulse on Sept. 12. Part of ShapingSF's Fall
Talks, this unique event will feature short presentations and extended,
audience-guided Q&A with John Killacky of the San Francisco Foundation,
Frances Phillips of the Haas Sr. Foundation, San San Wong of the SF
Arts Commission, Jessica Robinson (CounterPulse director), and others.
** EXHIBITOR LISTINGS **
You can get a full update of attending organizations on our Web site.
If you registered, please make sure you are included and that we have
your name spelled correctly. New folks this year include the Center for
Cultural Innovation in the Arts, three local film festivals, Pandora's
Trunk, the North American Guqin Association (advocating for the ancient
and gorgeous Chinese "violin") and more. We also welcome back old
friends we haven't seen in a while, including the Jewish Community
Center, Destiny Arts Center, Teaching Intermedia Learning Tools,
Katabatik Metacommunications Platform and more. Latest exhibitor
listings are here:
