* (3) * Meet the SF Mayoral Candidates @ the Expo!
This year we are particularly excited to note that we will have some
candidates for San Francisco mayor at the Expo on Sept. 15.
We personally called each and every candidate's direct line
(based on sfgov.org's list of "qualified candidates") and invited
them to get a table and meet the arts community.
It was an interesting experience. The candidates were quite
pleased that an organization is reaching out and asking them
to get involved in public discourse, especially because 90% of
them are being actively ignored by mainstream media. Well, we
do our part! Here's where it stands:
* Harold Brown -- Invited.
* George Davis -- Invited. Wrote back, pondering his options.
* Tony Hall -- Spoke on the phone. Thinking about it.
* Lonnie Holmes -- Spoke on the phone. Interested, not yet confirmed.
* Harold Hoogasian -- Spoke on the phone. No decision yet.
* Grasshopper Kaplan -- Spoke on the phone. Pondering his options.
* Quintin Mecke -- Emailed back. Interested, will decide after Labor Day.
* Gavin Newsom -- Invited. Left messages @ campaign HQ. No response yet.
* Wilma Pang -- Spoke on the phone, sent an email. No decision yet.
= Michael Powers -- Registered for a table. Come meet him at the Expo on Sept. 15!
= Chicken John Rinaldi -- Registered for a table. Come meet him at the Expo on Sept. 15!
* Ahimsa Porter Sumchai -- Left a message, sent an email. No response.
* Billy Bob Whitmer -- Talked on the phone, sent an email. Still pondering his options.
* Josh Wolf -- Talked on the phone. Still pondering his options.
Naturally, we hope to have ALL the candidates representing at the Expo on Sept. 15,
to meet YOU and field your questions about local arts, culture, and anything else
that crosses your mind. We'll update this list as soon as we know more!
( "=" on list above indicates the candidate IS attending the Expo )
