The San Francisco Arts Commission has asked to help get out the word about a new granting program available to artists and arts groups in San Francisco. More below! Arts & Communities: Innovative Partnerships. A three-year pilot of the San Francisco Arts Commission Deadline: Thursday, September 6, 2007 Arts & Communities: Innovative Partnerships will support artists and arts organizations based in San Francisco, of any medium, as they engage non-arts community (as can be defined by culture, choice, or special interest) or neighborhood (as defined by geography) partners in innovative creation processes in order to address pressing community needs, celebrate community assets and create fresh, dynamic public projects that represent a high degree of artistic quality. Two types of grants are available: ? Exploration Grants ? for the exploration of ideas, research, conversations with constituencies, partnership development and project design. Awards will be between $5,000 and $10,000 over a period up to nine months, beginning January 2008. ? Realization Grants ? for the creation of innovative, well-planned publicly accessible art projects that display thoughtful design and true partnership. Awards are up to $35,000 over a period of up to eighteen months, beginning January 2008. Community partners should be non-arts community-based organizations or groups located in San Francisco. Examples include: neighborhood associations, tenants' groups, social service organizations, social justice organizations, advocacy groups, health centers, Boys and Girls clubs and neighborhood and community-based businesses. Immigrant service organizations with an established arts program are also encouraged to apply and don't have to partner with a non-arts organization.
